A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

As we start the New Year, I would like to take the time to express my sincere thanks for allowing me to serve as your PTA President. The PTA has a great year planned for our families. It is important for the success of our children that we (parents, teachers, and administrators) work together to give our children the opportunity to succeed educationally. By building a strong educational foundation, we give our children the tools to function successfully in other environments. I look forward to seeing you at the many events scheduled this school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns @ 859-3278.

Enterprise Charter School Dress Code

Please remember that it is imperative that all children be in uniform each day. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the Dress Code Policy.

Enterprise Charter School
Uniform & Dress Code Policy

All students are expected to dress appropriately for a K - 9 educational environment. Any clothing or accessories that interferes with or disrupts the educational environment is unacceptable.

All students will wear the uniform approved by the Enterprise Charter School. The uniform consists of a royal blue, navy blue or white polo shirt, short or long sleeved, embroidered with the Enterprise Icon and *classic cut khaki shorts / pants (for boys) or classic cut khaki shorts, pants, skirt, or skort (for girls). Skirts and skorts should be just above the knee. It is expected that all students will wear their uniform shirts tucked inside their pants. Any student not wearing their uniform will be sent home that day. Hats or headwear of any kind is unacceptable. Students who repeatedly do not comply with the Enterprise Charter School's Uniform and Dress Code Policy will face disciplinary measures.

For outerwear the following policy applies: clothing that is vulgar, depicts discriminatory, or obscene words or images, or that promotes weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, drug paraphernalia, violence or gang symbols is prohibited.

For footwear the following policy applies: Students must wear closed toed shoes or sneakers, tied at all times. The heels on shoes may not exceed two inches (no platforms or chunkies). Sandals are not allowed.

Parents of students requiring accommodation for religious beliefs, disability, or other just cause must contact the Chief Academic Officer. If you have questions concerning uniforms please direct them to our Parent/ Community Coordinator Kinzer Pointer at 961-1550 x 302.

* Examples of appropriate "classic cut" khakis will be provided; sagging, low-cut, cargo, or over-sized khakis are not permitted.

Academic and Behavioral Competencies (ABC)
Enterprise has joined other local schools in a system of behavior control pioneered by world leading behaviorist Dr. William Pelham of the faculty of the University of Buffalo. Dr. Pelham and his staff have trained the entire staff in the implementation and operation of the program. Our children are already realizing benefits. Good behavior gains them participation in "Fun Fridays," the last period of which will be used for something fun and entertaining for the students and their teachers. This program will teach students and the parents who enroll to modify behavior that will allow the student to experience greater academic success. The goal is always to assist the student who may lack the requisite skill to self-modify negative behavior. Please help us to help your child as we seek to equip all of our students for success now and later in life. If you desire more information click onto www.enterprisecharter.org and learn more.

FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS "where kids can be kids, and so can parents!"

Family Fun Fridays are scheduled for the last Friday of each month. Please come and join us for a fun activity sponsored by the PTA. The dates are as follows:

September 24, 2004
October 29, 2004
January 28, 2005
February 25, 2005
March 25, 2005
April 29, 2005
May 27, 2005
June 24, 2005

Appointment of Dean of Students
Mr. Stanley Simmons has been appointed Dean of Students for Enterprise Charter School. Mr. Simmons will be responsible for primary discipline. He will be seen prior to students being sent to Chief Academic Officer Mrs. Jill Norton. Telephone Dean Simmons at 961-1540 with questions or concerns regarding discipline.

Enterprise Extention
The Before and After School programs are in full swing. It should be noted that there will not be Boys and Girls Club for next week, September 6-10. The staff will be away at training.

Help us to help you! If your child is enrolled in after school you must pick them up when their program ends. Failure to do so on 2 occasions will result in the removal of your child from after school.

Dismissal and Early Release from School
The school is always happy to accommodate parents who need to pick-up children for whatever reason. We do ask that you arrive by 3:45 pm, so as to give staff time enough to meet your need while we prepare for dismissing the entire school. This will help us greatly.

After school staff remains only until 6:30 p.m. daily. Please arrange for the pick-up of your children by that time.

The Welcome Back Barbeque is scheduled for Friday, September 17, 2004, 4:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with plans and preparation. Every family is asked to contribute a pot-luck dish.

Please use the form on the reverse for that purpose.
A planning meeting will be Thursday, September 9, 2004 starting at 5:00 pm.

Parking and The FIRE LANE
Please notice that the driveway along side the school is the FIRE LANE. It is the area reserved for use of the FIRE Department should they need to come to Enterprise to put out a fire. We are asking that whenever you come to school, for any reason, that you do not use the FIRE LANE to park in. Please use the parking lot nearest to Sycamore Street. There is plenty of parking and a short walk is far better than being in the right of way for EMERGENCY vehicles or our SCHOOL BUSES. We thank you, in advance, for your attention to this matter.
