The ECS community pays tribute to fallen Buffalo firefighter

When ECS students and staff looked out their window on March 1st, 2023, they saw billowing clouds of smoke as a building caught fire just a few blocks away in downtown Buffalo. The massive fire destroyed an entire building and later that day we learned that one of the brave firefighters, Jason Arno, was killed fighting the blaze.

On April 26th, 2023, Four Buffalo firefighters from Engine 2 came to visit our students so we could present a tribute in honor of his sacrifice. Spearheaded by our art teacher, Mrs. Julie Bridge, the tribute is a painted American flag with stripes made from the fingerprints of ECS students, staff, and family members. The entire ECS community is grateful to have the Buffalo Fire Department giving their time and risking their lives to protect us. We humbly thank the Buffalo Fire Department and extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Arno for their sacrifice. He will not be forgotten.
